The Tritons aren't just racking up wins in the sand; they're dominating the classroom, too, picking up honors from the AVCA.
It’s one thing to have a killer serve and look good doing it under the Florida sun, but it’s another thing entirely to keep the GPA high enough to impress the nerds in Lexington.
We’re giving a massive shoutout to the Eckerd Tritons beach volleyball team today. The squad just landed the Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). This isn't just a participation trophy for showing up to class; it’s a nod to a roster that actually takes the "student" part of student-athlete seriously.
While most people associate South St. Pete with relaxing at the beach, these women have been grinding through study sessions and exams while maintaining their status as one of the most exciting teams to watch in the SSC. The AVCA honors teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.3 or higher.
It’s a gritty, high-stakes environment out there on the sand, but clearly, that discipline is carrying over into the library. We love seeing our local athletes win, but seeing them secure the future while they’re at it? That’s the real flex.
Keep that same energy heading into next season, ladies. The Pier is proud.
