Before the gates
Tailgating Lightning
There's no traditional lot tailgate downtown — the pregame lives in the Channelside/Sparkman blocks and the Thunder Alley plaza outside Amalie.
Thunder Alley
Free outdoor plaza on the arena's south side. Live music, food trucks, big screens. Opens ~90 minutes before puck drop.
Sparkman Wharf
Open-air food hall two blocks away. Grab a bite and walk in — best value pregame downtown.
Channelside Bay Plaza
Bars and patios packed with blue jerseys. Arrive early on weekend games or you're standing.
What to bring
- A light jacket — the arena runs cold even in August
- Cash for the food-truck lines in Thunder Alley
- Blue everything: jersey, beads, flag
- Portable charger — downtown cell service crawls at puck drop
- Rideshare app pre-loaded with a pickup point picked in advance
Lot rules
- No grilling in the downtown garages — it's a fire-code no
- Thunder Alley is all-ages until puck drop; ID needed at the beer stands
- Bags must be clutch-sized or clear at every Amalie gate
- Outside drinks stay outside
- Garages lock at a set post-game time — check the sign on the way in
